Modern diagnosis of autoimmune diseases
There are more than 80 known types of autoimmune disease, and due to their heterogeneity and often unknown cause, diagnosis of specific disorders can be complex and often requires multiple investigations. These diseases are often chronic and can be debilitating in nature, which can lead to a reduced quality of life. As well as affecting patients on a physical, physiological, psychological, and financial level, it also affects their families and communities. Fast and efficient diagnosis of these diseases is crucial in finding efficacious therapeutic options. This Thematic Series collects studies and reviews that focus on topics surrounding the diagnosis of autoimmune disorders.
