Today in Pulmonary Medicine from the Bench to Bedside and Beyond
Lung diseases represent one of the most widespread and severe categories of medical conditions globally. In the United States alone, tens of millions of people are affected by various forms of lung disease, ranging from mild respiratory issues to life-threatening conditions. These diseases include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung cancer, among others. The primary causes of lung disease are well established: tobacco smoke—both firsthand and secondhand exposure—remains the leading risk factor.
