Cellular and Molecular Drivers of Lung Inflammation in Respiratory Diseases

Lung inflammation is a hallmark characteristic feature of many respiratory diseases, from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to pulmonary fibrosis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). While inflammation serves as a protective role in response to infection or injury, dysregulated or persistent inflammatory responses can lead to progressive lung damage and impaired respiratory structure and function. Understanding the cellular and molecular drivers behind lung inflammation is crucial for developing targeted therapies that can modulate these pathways without compromising host defense.
