A Case Report of Moraxella Catarrhalis Infection After Lumbar Spinal Fixation and Fusion [Retraction]
This retraction applies to:
published online on 09/11/2024Xie Y, Jiang S, Liang Q, Hu X, He D, Wu X. Infect Drug Resist. 2024;17:4985—4991.
We, the authors, Editor and Publisher of the journal Infection and Drug Resistance, have retracted the published article.
Since publication, the authors have notified the journal about inaccuracies in the case report due to a confusion between the terms ‘lumbar fixation and fusion surgery’ and ‘lumbar fusion surgery’, as well as the misinterpretation of infection rates in instrumented spine surgeries from the referenced study by Kasliwal et al (2013).
As these errors have the potential for reader misinterpretation and impact the scientific rigor of the article the authors, Editor and Publisher have all agreed to retract the article to ensure the integrity of the scholarly record.
We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.
The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
